A Character done for *Jono-Wyer
The man’s sunken eyes did not stray from his gaze into the black sky; as though he hadn’t heard Jono speak at all.
“We are a bold people. Our stories stretch through millennia and to a depth beyond imagination and yet we find ourselves fighting the same wars and staining the same gifts. We are bold and unrepentant.”
Jono peered at the distant stars alongside him and said nothing.
“You do not yet know what sorrowful times you have been born into,” said the historian. He turned to Jono and met his eyes with piercing honesty, “but do know that I am sorry for it.”
Their gaze held for only a moment before the old man retired to the warmth of the tower and left Jonothon to the cold but windless world. He looked toward the tiny flakes of brightness that seemed unreachable and struggled to grasp the depth of all the changes he had experienced and the uncertain life and deeds that lay before him.
