If it eats icebergs... and craps icebergs... how's it get any sustenance? why does it eat at all? why am I asking these questions about a stealthy iceberg hunter? why does my roommate exist?

perhaps there are things like minerals and frozen plankton in the icebergs on which the creature feeds on. my question is, how does something organic and living excrete ice? unless it excretes a chemical with causes the water around it to freeze and cluster on contact. love it tho!
